The Manor is steeped in history and it has been reported as being “one of the finest of the smaller Tudor Manor Houses”. The core of the house is believed to date back to the 14th century and may well have been associated with the Knights Templars. It was thoroughly overhauled c.1580, when it apparently became a summer residence of the Bishops of Oxford.
